Bobcat Soccer Nets Three Goals in Win at Montevallo

Box Score

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Georgia College soccer squad (4-10-1, 2-7 PBC) netted three second-half goals Saturday to pick up the team's first road Peach Belt Conference (PBC) victory by a 3-1 score over the University of Montevallo (1-10-1, 1-7-1 PBC).

After a scoreless first half, all of the fireworks came in the second.

The Falcons broke the scoreless deadlock off a corner just 3:36 into the second frame. Octavia Saunders found the back of the net with an assist from Camilla Alderin. The goal was Saunders' second on the year.

Junior Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, California) provided the equalizer in the 70th minute off a pass from Sol Baldassini (Miami, Florida). Barys now has two goals, Baldassini two assists on the season.

The go-ahead goal came just over two minutes later, a milestone strike as the first collegiate score for freshman Rahliat Animashaun (Baton Rouge, Louisiana). Senior Abby Dalton (Macon, Georgia) was credited with the assist.

Dalton wasn't finished there however, netting her second goal of the season to push the match further out of reach. Classmate Rebekah Autry (Winder, Georgia) provided the help, her first.

Rookie netminder Meredith Carson (Alpharetta, Georgia) continues to impress, making three saves for her first collegiate victory. Falcon goalkeeper Katie Pearson managed six saves in the loss.

Dalton's goal moves her into a tie for sixth in school history with Meredith Moran (2004-05) at 12 career scores. Barys' 10 career goals put her in a tie for eighth with former All-PBC forward Kayla Emerson (2001-10).

The victory stops a three-match slide for the Bobcats, making them 2-7 in PBC play, the six points positioning Georgia College ninth, four out of the final conference playoff spot with two matches to go.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m., hosting Georgia Southwestern State University (0-16, 0-10 PBC). The Hurricanes most recently lost to Armstrong State University 10-0 today.
