GC Women's Basketball Closes Out Tampa Classic With a Loss

TAMPA, Fla. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (0-2) closed out their opening weekend at the Tampa Classic falling to the preseason frontrunner of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) the University of Tampa (2-0) 60-38 Saturday.

Senior Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Georgia) led the Bobcats in their efforts with a total of 17 points. She now has a total of 1,331 in her career, just 17 points behind Betsy Foy (1999-02) for third all-time leading scorer in Georgia College history.

Senior Enisha Donley (Loganville, Georgia) came in behind Keys, adding six points of her own. Sophomore LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia) and Donley crashed the boards, pulling down seven rebounds each. Walker also headed the squad, dishing out three assists for the game.

The Spartans' controlled the boards for the game ending with a total of 51 to the Bobcats' 35. Additionally, the Bobcats struggled from the field, shooting just 26 percent, as Tampa shot 36. On the other hand, Georgia College dominated from behind the arc, draining five of its 13. Five of the Bobcats' three-pointers were made by Keys.

The Bobcats will travel to Dahlonega, Georgia looking to crack the win column against Tuskegee University Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. as part of the North Georgia Classic.
