MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (3-2) did what no other team has done this season, handing the University of West Georgia (4-1) its first loss of the 2014-15 campaign Tuesday night. The Bobcats won their first game in the Centennial Center this year, and are now 4-1 in their last five home openers.

"It was good to see us close it down," said head coach Maurice Smith. "We got what we needed from our experienced players down the stretch."

Seniors Enisha Donley (Loganville) and Shanteona Keys (Roswell) led the charge with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Keys added a team-best nine rebounds with a pair of blocks. Sophomore guard Lindsey Reed (Stockbridge) provided a spark, knocking down three from long range in the first half, en route to a career-high 14 points.

The Wolves sprinted out of the gate, with forward Seandre Lee scoring the first nine points for UWG on a 9-2 run. Georgia College took their first lead at the 14:33 mark, traded blows, then took over nearly for good with 13:19 left in the first half on a Kadesha Gibbs (Claremont, North Carolina) layup. Gibbs would finish with six points.

UWG had a late-second half surge, actually taking a lead on a pair of free throws with 52 ticks left, 62-61. Donley made a layup, and after an offensive foul, Keys hit one of two from the free-throw line to make it 64-62 with seven seconds left. A last-ditch, off-balance deep tying attempt by the Wolves rattled off the right rim at the horn.

The Bobcats had their hands full with Taylor Beverly, to the tune of 22 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and three assists without a turnover. Georgia College put the clamps on the rest of the lineup however, as no other UWG player managed double-digit scoring.

The 12 points for Keys gives the senior 1,404 in her career, 110 behind Lisa Havior (1986-90) and second place in school history. Donley, who joined the school's 1,000-point club over the weekend, now stands at 1,018 points, 78 behind No. 13 Allison Barry (1988-92).

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., traveling to Fort Valley State University.
