#27 GC Women's Tennis Defeated by Flagler Saints, 6-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 27 Georgia College Bobcats (4-3, 1-2 PBC) fought until the end against the Flagler College Saints (2-2, 1-1 PBC), but fell short 6-3 in their attempt Sunday at the Centennial Center.

No. 2 doubles team Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) won their match 8-5 against Anika Cohen and Thaisa Pereira, giving the Bobcats the only doubles point.

Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bourdeaux, France) took the first doubles bout into extra games at a 9-7 loss to Hanna Goettsching and Esther Santiago. Krista Ingrilli and Kelly Stewart picked up a tight 8-6 win in the third slot over Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee Ga.).

Freshman Macy Polk tied the score 2-2 by crushing Barbora Sebkova 6-0, 6-3. Serdinia marked the third and final point of the match for Georgia College at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-2 against Pereira.

Marevic battled at the No. 3 spot, but was defeated 6-3, 7-6 by Stewart. Clausse-Pujo fought hard in a three set battle against Esther Santiago. Clausse-Pujo led after the first set but lost the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Goettsching beat Cristalei Polk 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 4 spot while Ingrilli defeated Krupp 6-4, 6-3 in the sixth slot.

Macy Polk and Serdinia now share the team's singles wins lead at five. The top doubles squad for the Bobcats continues to be Krupp and Marevic at 5-1.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Mar. 5 at 1 p.m. in Savannah, Ga. to face the No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirates.
