#27 Georgia College Women Outlast #43 GRU Augusta, 6-3

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 27 Georgia College women's tennis team (10-4, 3-2 PBC) picked up its 10th win of the season Saturday, taking down No. 43 GRU Augusta (8-5, 3-3 PBC) 6-3 on the road.

The Bobcats took second and third doubles to start off 2-1. Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bourdeaux, France) and Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) dropped a tough 8-5 decision to Aida Castany and Marie Vin in the first slot.

At second doubles, Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) beat Roberta Oliveira and Julie Fontaine 8-1. Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Ga.) added an 8-3 victory over Maria C. Pimentel and Gisela Font. Both the second and the third doubles pairings for the Bobcats improve to 10-3 on the season.

Freshman Macy Polk made quick work of Castany in the first slot 6-4, 6-1 to start off singles play. Clausse-Pujo provided the next team point in the second slot with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Oliviera. Macy Polk improves to 8-4 on her rookie season, while Clausse-Pujo gets above .500 at 7-6.

Cristalei Polk's team-leading 10th win provided the team-clinching point, as the freshman cut down Font in the fourth slot 6-2, 6-4.

The remaining three matches went the distance. Serdinia beat Fontaine in a marathon at the fifth spot 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, improving the Bobcat freshman to 9-4. Krupp lost to Maria Nadal in at sixth singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-5, and Marevic lost in the third spot to Pimentel 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.

The Bobcats are back in action at home Wednesday, March 26 at 2 p.m., hosting Brenau University.
