#27 GC Women's Tennis Beats Clayton State, 6-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College freshman Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) picked up two victories for the No. 27 Bobcat women's tennis team (6-3, 3-2 PBC) helping lead her squad past No. 49 Clayton State University (1-11, 0-6 PBC) 6-3 Sunday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats started the match up 2-0, as the Lakers only fielded five players. Georgia College only needed three wins to pick up the team victory.

Raluca Pavel and Kristiin Mets picked up Clayton's first point with an 8-5 win over Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) and Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) in the second slot.

Macy Polk and Camille-Clausse-Pujo (Bourdeaux, France) beat Zinnia Leamana and Martina Dedaj in a marathon 9-8 match. The win evened out the Bobcat duo's record at 4-4.

Marevic gave Georgia College a 4-1 lead when Dedaj retired in the second set, down 6-1, 3-0 in the third slot. Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) then clinched the team match by taking out Mets 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth slot.

Darina Drozdova took down Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Ga.) 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth slot, then Macy Polk picked up her second win of the day with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Leamana. Pavel finished off the match with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 win over Clausse-Pujo in the second spot.

The wins for the Polk sisters make them both 6-3, tying Serdinia for the team lead in victories this season.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 11 in non-conference play, hosting Concord University.
