MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (8-9, 4-6 PBC) used a strong first half to knock off the Falcons of Montevallo University (1-16, 0-10) Saturday in the Centennial Center, 70-57.
The Bobcat women out-scored the Falcons 40-27 in the first half behind a strong start from senior Shanteona Keys (Roswell). Keys scored 19 of the Bobcats' 40 points in the first half, finishing with 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting. She made 7-of-8 three pointers.
The Bobcats never trailed in the contest, taking their first lead at the 19:10 mark of the first half on a Keys three. Keys scored the first eight points for Georgia College. The biggest lead came with 17:42 on the clock in the second half at 47-30.
Senior Enisha Donley (Loganville) notched 15 points and seven rebounds in the win. With her fifth point of the game, Donley moved into eighth place in school history with 1,157 points. Her current total of 1,167 is just behind seventh place held by Tracy Davis. Donley shot 7-of-13 from the floor.
Sophomore Lindsey Reed (Stockbridge) also scored in double figures, posting 11 points to go along with three assists. This was her second career double-figure scoring game after dropping 14 on the University of West Georgia in November. Classmate LaRice Walker (Franklin) dished out nine assists to lead the team, as well as notching six points and four steals.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 28 as they travel to Young Harris College for a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. They are back in the Centennial Center Saturday, Jan. 31 hosting Francis Marion University.
