Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (6-6, 2-3 PBC) broke a two-game slide in large fashion Wednesday, making short work of the University of Montevallo (1-11, 0-5 PBC) 63-40.
The Bobcats never trailed in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) West Divisional matchup, as LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia) knocked down two free throws at the 18:02 mark to get her team started. The 'Cats started the game on a 13-4 run. Walker finished with four points.
Senior Enisha Donley (Loganville, Georgia) led all scorers with 14 points, nabbing a game-high seven rebounds as well. Adding 11 points and seven boards of her own was classmate Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Georgia).
Junior guard Kayla Upchurch (Alpharetta, Georgia) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Classmate Kadesha Gibbs (Claremont, North Carolina) had one of her best games as a Bobcat, tallying eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
With her eighth point, coming on a three-point shot at the 12-minute mark, Keys surpassed Lisa Havior (1986-90) to second in the school recordbooks. Keys finished the game with 1,518 points, 301 off the school record, set by GC Hall of Famer Sherita Ballard (1987-91).
The Bobcats won all facets of the game, the biggest coming in turnovers-caused, doubling up UM 20-10. Georgia College also out-shot the Falcons 45 percent (26-58) to 27 percent (14-52).
The 26.9 percent shot by Montevallo tonight is a season-best for Georgia College's defense. The last time the Bobcats held a team to that low a shooting percentage was 23.2 percent in the 71-39 rout of then-Augusta State University Feb. 10, 2011.
Guard Andrea Petrovic led Montevallo with 11 points.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1:30 p.m., ending a seven-game road stretch by hosting No. 17 Columbus State University.
