Another Offensive Outburst for GC Baseball, 18-8 over Montevallo

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team (12-12, 5-8 PBC) scored the final 13 runs of Friday's 18-8 win over the University of Montevallo (12-10, 8-5 PBC) at John Kurtz Field.

The game featured 36 total hits, and gives the Bobcats five straight wins.

Georgia College trailed 8-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth, when a three-run home run by first baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville) tied the game. Georgia College put five runs up in both the seventh and eighth innings to run away with the game.

Ardeeser had a monster game, going 4-for-4 with six RBI and four runs scored. Junior Dylan Cook (Portola Valley, California) has hits in 23 of 24 Bobcat games, and went 4-for-5 with three doubles today. Cook drove in two and scored another.

Shortstop Brandon Benson (Loganville) had three hits in five trips, plating three and scoring three more, while centerfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans) had three hits of his own, including a triple, crossing the plate three times and adding an RBI.

Junior reliever Chris Gammon (Chandler, Arizona) improved to 2-1 with a scoreless seventh inning, fanning one. Montevallo reliever Joey Hume (1-3) surrendered six runs in just over an inning of work. The Bobcat one-through four hitters were a combined 14-for-20 with 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.

The Bobcats have changed the schedule for the remainder of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series, opting to play a doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m.
