#15 GC Women's Tennis Takes PBC Quarterfinal from Young Harris, 5-1

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 15 Georgia College women's tennis team (17-5) buzzed past Young Harris College (13-9) in convincing fashion 5-1 to open up the 2015 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tennis Tournament Friday.

The No. 3-seed Bobcats led the No. 6-seed Mountain Lions 2-1 after doubles play. The lone loss came in the first slot, as Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bourdeaux, France) and Kristen Jones (Marietta, Georgia) were edged 8-5 by Laura Sanchez and Eva Castiglioni.

Georgia College's first point came from the third doubles slot, as Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Georgia) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Georgia) remained perfect on the season at 9-0. The Bobcat duo beat Carolina Hernandez and Kadie Hudgins 8-1.

Katie Krupp (Evans, Georgia) and Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia) teamed for a hard-fought 8-6 win over Elin Rundcrantz and Maria Puerta in the second slot.

Krupp got the singles sweep rolling in the fifth slot with a win over Puerta, 6-1, 4-1, retired. Krupp improves to 10-0 in singles action.

Sixth singles play brought a victory for Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Georgia) over Hernandez in near-shutout fashion, 6-1, 6-0. The Bobcat netter is now 12-6. Her sister Macy Polk finished off the match by downing Aimee Dorley in a pair of 6-2 sets in the second slot.

Georgia College advances to the PBC Semifinal action, taking on No. 2-seed Columbus State University tomorrow, April 25 at 8 a.m. The Cougars shut out No. 7-seed Lander 5-0 today.
