#20 GC Men's Tennis Falls in PBC Semifinal, 5-2

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 20 Georgia College men's tennis team (13-8) took the fight to No. 7 Lander University (15-2), dropping a 5-2 decision in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Semifinals at Francis Marion University.

The Bobcats dropped doubles action 2-1. Georgia College got its win in the second slot, as Taylor Powell (Martinez, Georgia) and Jannik Kumbier (Neumünster, Germany) took down Thibaut Leoussoff and Marc Hofer, 8-5.

First doubles was a loss, as No. 23 Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and Vincent Castermans (Grenoble, France) lost to No. 11 Adam Jonsson and Loic Minery 8-3. In third doubles, Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) and Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) fell in an 8-6 battle to Benjamin Salle and Samuel Poutignat.

In first singles, Hass provided the win over Hofer 6-2, 6-4. No. 44 Salle beat Castermans in the second slot, 6-3, 6-4, and No. 40 Leoussoff topped Ecenarro 6-3, 6-4. In fifth singles, Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) also dropped a match 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. 

The Bobcats now await at-large selections for the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament. Georgia College was positioned No. 4 in the most Southeast Region Rankings, April 22.
