BOBCAT Women GROUND THE FALCONS IN 64-58 ROAD WIN

Box Score

MONTEVALLO, Ala.- The Georgia College women's basketball team (14-5, 6-4 PBC) ended a four game losing streak in a 64-58 win on the road at the University of Montevallo (6-11, 3-7 PBC) Saturday.

The Bobcats started the scoring early against the Falcons with guard Lyndsey Reed (Stockbridge, Georgia) going hitting the first two points from the three-point line. Head coach Maurice Smith's squad would take an early lead and hold onto it the entire game, ending the first quarter with a 20-13 lead.

After a fast-paced first quarter, the second quarter was a more defensive battle for both teams. The Bobcats held the Falcons to only five points. Kadesha Gibbs (Claremont, North Carolina) did a dominant portion of soring for Georgia College during the second, having seven of the 11 points in the period.

The Falcons outscored the Bobcats in the second half but could never slow down the Georgia College offense enough to overcome the early deficit. The Bobcats had three players in double-digit scoring with Gibbs, Reed and LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia).

With another dominant performance from Gibbs, who ended the night with 22 points and nine rebounds, the Bobcats shake off a series of losses. The senior forward was the game-high scorer and was one rebound away from her seventh double-double of the season. Reed added 14 points, including a pair of threes. Walker finished with 14 points as well.

You can catch the Bobcats back in action at the Centennial Center Wednesday, Jan. 27 against Young Harris College in another Peach Belt Conference (PBC) match. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. This is Georgia College's Fan Appreciation Day, including a corn hole tournament prior to the doubleheader, with the winner taking home a GC logo set.
