MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 10 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (3-3) had one of its most dominant efforts of the young season, blanking Coker College (1-6) in non-conference action Wednesday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The Bobcats surrendered just 11 points in doubles play.
Playing in the first slot, Christian Graff (Lohmar, Germany) and Jannik Kumbier (Neumünster, Germany) took a hard-fought 8-6 match from Simon Berbom and Henrik Hellbe. In the second slot, Taylor Powell (Martinez) and Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee) paired for an 8-3 win over Tom Sizeland and Mark Watt.
The sweep continued through the third slot, as Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) joined Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostella, Spain) for the first time and came up with the best result, an 8-2 win over Dominic Allan and Felix Schweyer.
The first singles result came from the top slot, as No. 14 Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) closed strong in a 6-4, 6-1 victory over William Marrafao. Powell provided the team-victory clinching win in the third slot, topping Sizeland 7-6, 6-1.
Ecenarro beat Watt in the fourth slot by a pair of 6-1 sets, Ecenarro improving to a team-best 4-1. Waern overpowered Schweyer in sixth singles, 6-0, 6-4; Waern's first singles action of the season.
No. 47 Kumbier proved successful in the second slot, nearly blanking Berbom 6-1, 6-0. Kinsler wrapped up play in fifth singles, taking down Hellbe in a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 bout.
The Bobcats return to Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play next, traveling to No. 44 Augusta University Friday, March 4 at noon.
