INDIANAPOLIS – National No. 19 Georgia College Women's Tennis (19-6) was chosen No. 4 in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings, released Wednesday. The Bobcats come in behind three other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) members as top NCAA Southeast Region competitors.
The final version of this poll is used to determine the at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, beginning May 1. The region has three automatic bids, given to the tournament champions for the PBC, South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and Conference Carolinas (CC). The Southeast Region selections will be divided over two separate tournament sites, the winner of each advancing to the NCAA Finals in Denver.
Armstrong State University, who has only one recorded loss on the season, took the top spot, and Columbus State University came in second with four losses thus far. Flagler College comes in one spot ahead of the Bobcats. After Georgia College comes more PBC schools in Francis Marion University at fifth, USC Aiken sixth, Young Harris College in the No. 7 spot and Augusta University at No. 9. The SAC's Wingate University is listed No. 10.
The Bobcats look to continue PBC Tournament Quarterfinal action tomorrow, April 23. Play at Francis Marion in Florence, South Carolina was suspended today due to rain.
