#16 Bobcat Women's Tennis Falls in Regional Semifinal, 5-1

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The 22nd straight trip to the NCAA Regionals for No. 16 Georgia College Women's Tennis (20-9) ended in the semifinals Sunday, as the Bobcats fell to No. 25 Francis Marion University (20-6) 5-1 at the NCAA Southeast Regional #1.

The Bobcats dug an early hole by dropping all three doubles matchups.

The first slot brought an 8-4 loss, as senior Katie Krupp (Evans) and sophomore Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) were upended by Samantha Koelliker and Marie Krueger.

In the second slot, senior Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France) and junior Macy Polk (Powder Springs) gave Eva Lieben and Sofia Henning a battle, falling 8-5.

Junior Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee) and sophomore Emma Niemi (Cumming) dropped an 8-3 bout to Anilu Barraza Araiza and Anna Wintrich.

The Patriots only needed two victories to pick up the team win, and national No. 48 Clausse-Pujo wouldn't let the Bobcats go down easy, taking down Krueger in the first slot in a pair of 6-4 sets. Clausse-Pujo finishes her career with 42 singles victories.

That's where the rally would end however, as FMU got singles wins in the second and sixth slots. Macy Polk dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Koelliker and Serdinia came up short in a three-setter to Barraza Araiza 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.

The loss brings another outstanding season to a close for GC Women's Tennis a 20-9 campaign, the fourth 20-win season in program history. Senior Clausse-Pujo took a spot on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Second Team as well.
