Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (8-3, 2-2 PBC) couldn't get it going Friday afternoon at UNC Pembroke (8-4, 3-2 PBC), falling 71-51 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) crossover action.
UNCP jumped out to a 23-15 lead after the first quarter, and the Bobcats struggled to overcome that early hole.
Sophomore Shay Tarver (Covington, Georgia) led the Bobcats with 10 points, adding four boards and a pair of assists. Forwards Ta'Asia Wright (Denmark, South Carolina) and Alyah McGriff (Suwanee, Georgia) each had nine points, with Wright adding a team-best nine boards.
The GC Women were out-shot 40 percent (24-60) to 32 percent (19-59) from the floor, and got out-rebounded by 10 (46-36). The loss ends a four-game win streak against UNC Pembroke.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m., playing host to Francis Marion University (7-5, 2-1 PBC). The Patriots host Clayton State University tomorrow prior to coming to Milledgeville.
