AMERICUS, Ga. – No. 19 Georgia College Women's Tennis (4-3, 3-2 PBC) got its best Peach Belt Conference (PBC) win of the season thus far Saturday with a massive 8-1 shut down at Georgia Southwestern State University (4-9, 0-5 PBC).
The Bobcats held the Hurricanes to less than three game wins in all but one of the 13 sets played in both the singles and doubles sides of play.
The ladies in blue and green knocked down an easy one-two-three in doubles to start the day. Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Emma Niemi (Cumming) produced a win in the first spot, 8-1, while Camilla Negrini (Milan, Italy) and Kristen Jones (Marietta) mimicked their teammates as they stopped on the Canes 8-1 in the third flight. Macy Polk (Powder Springs) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee) gave the Bobcats a perfect 3-0 doubles sweep with their 8-2 win in the second line.
Polk started number one for Bobcat singles and made quick work of Maria Toboada 6-2, 6-0. Kelly followed suit in the second spot, shutting down Celia del Castillo 6-2, 6-3. Negrini stopped Hannah Ayers with a huge 6-1, 6-0 win in third. Serdinia matched Negrini's 6-1, 6-0 success in the fourth slot against Charli Allen. Niemi had the best win of the day with two shut-out sets in the fifth spot, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Next up, the Bobcats host Auburn-Montgomery for a non-conference match-up in Milledgeville Friday, March 10. First serves are scheduled for 1 p.m.
