#14 Bobcat Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season with Senior Day Loss to #24 Flagler, 6-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 14 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (9-10, 3-7 PBC) came up empty on Senior Day Saturday, falling to No. 24 Flagler College (14-6, 6-4 PBC) 6-3 at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats started by dropping two of the three doubles bouts. The second slot provided the lone victory for Georgia College, as Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) and Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) edged Hermann Gertmann and Luca Bolla 8-4. The win was the 10th this season for the Bobcat second doubles team.

The first doubles pairing of Christian Graff (Lohmar, Germany) and Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee) were taken down by Lukas Storck and Felipe Carvalho 8-1. In third doubles, Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) and Nathan Connelly (McDonough) didn't fare much better, dropping an 8-3 bout to Konstantin Dustmann and Daniel Arrien.

Second and third singles were the spots where the Bobcats got their remaining two team points. In the third slot, Waern got past Willy Hasselberg in a pair of 6-4 sets. It took three frames, but Ecenarro topped Gertmann in the second spot 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. Waern gets his 10th singles victory of the year, Ecenarro his team-leading 15th.

In first singles, No. 36 Graff fell in a ranked battle, a 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 marathon to No. 40 Storck. On the fourth line, Campus dropped a 6-3, 7-6 decision to Bolla. In the fifth slot Kinsler was beaten by Carvalho 6-1, 6-2, while Arrien topped Connelly in the sixth line by a pair of 6-2 sets.

The Bobcats fall to 3-7 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, in a three-way tie for seventh in the league standings. The top eight teams advance to the PBC Tournament beginning April 21.

Prior to the contest, the Bobcats honored their four men's tennis seniors, as Campus, Graff, Kinsler and Waern played in their final home contest.
