ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 14 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (11-11) shut out Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) runner-up Morehouse College (12-8) 6-0 on the road Sunday.
The Bobcats got doubles wins in the first and third slots, and added four singles victories in Sunday's matchup.
Senior Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) and freshman Nathan Connelly (McDonough) were the only two Bobcats to nab a pair of wins Sunday. Waern and Connelly teamed in third doubles for an 8-2 win over Ziha Meghoo-Peddie and Katriel Barcount. Waern won in second singles over Justin Samples 6-0, 6-1 as well. The Bobcat senior leads the team with 12 singles wins on the season, including six in his last 10. Connelly picked up his third victory of the season, shutting out Barcount in the sixth slot.
Christian Graff (Lohmar, Germany) teamed with Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee) for an 8-2 in first doubles, passing Everette Reese and Justin Samples.
The two other singles finishes came in the third and fourth slots. Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostella, Spain) beat Rasheed Slade 6-0, 6-1 and Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) added a 6-0, 6-2 win over Terrell Green. Campus now has 102 career victories.
The Bobcats now await at-large announcements to the NCAA Southeast Regional, the tournament beginning April 29. The Bobcats were outside the most recent region poll and will hope recent success pulls them into the conversation.
