Bobcat Women's Basketball Takes Game at Young Harris, 73-45

Box Score

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Dominating the final three quarters of the contest, the Georgia College Women's Basketball team (17-10, 14-7 PBC) blew away Young Harris College (9-19, 6-15 PBC) 73-45 on the road Wednesday. The 45 points matches the fewest given out by the Bobcats this season.

Georgia College started slowly, trailing 12-10 after the first quarter. The Bobcats turned the tables from that point, including a massive 22-5 edge in the final frame to pull away.

Alyah McGriff (Suwanee) led all scorers with 22 points and 14 rebounds, hitting 11-for-19 from the floor. The senior forward netted the 22 points without the benefit of attempting a free throw. She now has eight double-doubles this season.

Junior Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) aided the cause with her own 17-point, 10-rebound double-double. The forward also swatted four more shots, giving her a streak of 10 straight games with more than one block. Classmate Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) nearly joined the double-up party with 10 rebounds and eight points.

The Bobcats out-shot Young Harris 47 percent (31-65) to just 26 percent (17-65) from the field. The shooting defense was the lowest allowed by the Bobcats since Jan. 28, 2017 against Georgia Southwestern State University, a 37-game stretch.

Drynan now has 77 blocks for the season, and is just six off the school's single-season record.

The win moves Georgia College to 14-7 in PBC play, clinching the No. 5-seed for the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, starting Feb. 28.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m., finishing the regular season by traveling to Francis Marion University.
