Bobcat Men's Tennis Edges Young Harris, 5-4

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – A huge win from reigning Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week Robin Moller (Hamburg, Germany) decided the match for Georgia College Men's Tennis (3-0, 2-0 PBC), as the Bobcats stayed undefeated with a 5-4 win at Young Harris College (5-1, 0-1 PBC) Friday.

Doubles action put the Bobcats in a 2-1 hole. The lone victory came in the first slot, as Jannik Kumbier (Neumunster, Germany) and Moller teamed for a 9-8 (10-8) win over Guilherme Sergio and Alex Pave.

On line two, Gabriel Caron (Johns Creek) and Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostella, Spain) lost 8-6 to Mateo Besada and Tim Fleerkamp. Third doubles brought an 8-4 loss for Nathan Connelly (McDonough) and Enzo Kohn (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) to Javier Villar and Ignacio Ascarrunz.

YHC started singles play with a win, as Ascarrunz beat Cole Heller (Woodstock) 6-2, 6-4 in the sixth line. Kumbier then topped Besada in second singles with relative ease, 6-1, 6-2. A Mountain Lion win in slot four put them a single team point away from victory, as there Villar beat Caron, 6-4, 6-2.

Georgia College needed a sweep in the final three singles bouts, and it started with Kohn in the fifth slot, topping Fleerkamp in a pair of 6-3 sets. Ecenarro then knotted the match 4-4 with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Sergio in the first slot. Moller then completed the come-from-behind win, taking down Pavel with two 7-5 sets.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m., traveling to No. 8 Lander University.
