FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 25 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (11-10) saw its Peach Belt Conference (PBC) run come to a close in the semifinals, falling 5-1 to No. 3 Columbus State University (21-3) Saturday.

The No. 1-seed Cougars advance to face No. 2-seed Lander University in the championship match, slotted for 1 p.m. Sunday, April 22.

The Cougars took two of three doubles bouts. The Bobcat victory came in the third slot, where freshman Gabriel Caron (Johns Creek, Georgia) and Noah Wallace (Grayson, Georgia) teamed for an 8-6 win over Jorge Vargas and Shao-Yu Yu.

In the first line, the No. 26 pairing of Jannik Kumbier (Neumunster, Germany) and Robin Moller (Hamburg, Germany) lost 8-1 in a ranked battle to No. 9 Zach Whaanga and Alvaro Regalado. In the second slot, Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostella, Spain) and Enzo Kohn (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) dropped an 8-5 decision to KP Pannu and Matei Avram.

Needing three singles wins for the clinch, CSU got the points in the third, fifth and sixth slots. No. 62 Regalado beat Moller 6-0, 7-5 in the third slot. Avram topped Wallace 7-6, 6-0 in the fifth line and Vargas beat Caron in a pair of 6-2 sets.

The Bobcats now await the at-large selections for the NCAA Southeast Regionals, set for Tuesday, April 24 at 8 p.m. on NCAA.com.
