#13 GC Men's Tennis Mobs Mountain Lions, 6-1

PEACH BELT STANDINGS

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Surrendering just a single match on the day, the No. 13 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (8-2, 2-2 PBC) beat Young Harris College (0-6, 0-1 PBC) 6-1 Saturday on the road.

The Bobcats took the doubles point with wins in the first and second slots.

Senior Jannik Kumbier (Neumunster, Germany) teamed with sophomore Noah Wallace (Grayson) for a shutout win in the second slot over Romeo Luque and Ruben Gonzalez. Third doubles brought the score even, as juniors Nathan Connelly (McDonough) and sophomore Cole Heller (Woodstock) fell 6-2 to Herman Ronnberg and Javier Villar.

Juniors Robin Moller (Hamburg, Germany) and Matt Rogel (Sautron, France) won the point for the Bobcats by beating Kash Reddiyar and Ignacio Ascarrunz 6-4 in the first slot. Rogel and Moller are now 8-2 this season.

Wallace continued his singles dominance, improving to 9-1 by topping Gonzalez in two 6-2 sets. Kumbier made the team score 3-0 by beating Reddiyar 6-2, 6-4. Moller then clinched the team victory with a singles win, improving to 9-0 by taking 6-3 and 6-2 sets from Villar.

Next, freshman Ben McClurg (Belfast, Northern Ireland) beat Ronnberg 6-3, 7-5. After Heller stumbled in three sets to Luque 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, Rogel closed the day with a win over Ascarrunz 6-0, 6-7, 6-3.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, March 20 at 9 a.m., traveling to No 4 University of West Florida.
