NEWBERRY, S.C. – The No. 41 Georgia College Women's Tennis team (10-3) picked up its fourth win via shutout Thursday, making short work of Newberry College (11-8) 7-0 on the road.

The Bobcats took the doubles point with a sweep.

Mixing things up a bit, sophomore Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) and freshman Jordan Bowie (Macon, Georgia) teamed for the first time, picking up a 6-1 win over Lucy Spice and Frederike Klein in the second slot.

Another new pairing of senior Paula Garriga (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) in third doubles brought a 6-4 victory over Amy Griffiths and Madison Conwell. Completing the sweep was senior Valeria Lopez (Galicia, Spain) and freshman Emma Fleming (Suwanee, Georgia), edging Elisa Aguirre and Marta Gomar 7-5. The Bobcat first doubles pairing is now 7-1 this season.

Singles play started with a finish in the sixth slot, where Bowie beat Conwell by retirement after a 6-0 first set for the GC rookie. Yatribi topped Spice in the third slot 6-2, 6-1 and Lopez clinched the team victory by beating Klein in second singles by the same score. Lopez improves to a team-best 11-1. The victory was Yatribi's 10th as she is now 10-3 in singles play.

No. 58 Richter won over Aguirre 6-4, 6-3, then Fleming topped Gomar 6-1, 6-2. Garriga finished the day with a 7-6, 6-4 battle over Griffiths in the fifth slot.

The win helps the Bobcats improve to 2-0 in road matches, and 6-3 in non-conference action.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m., playing host to Georgia Southwestern State University (6-7, 0-3 PBC). The Hurricanes most recently lost to Flagler College 7-0 at home Sunday.
