FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 6 Georgia College Baseball team (11-8, 5-4 PBC) split action at Francis Marion University (14-7, 7-4 PBC) Saturday, suffering a come-from-behind 4-3 loss and rebounding for a victory in game two, 6-4.

In game one, the Bobcats led 3-0 after four, thanks to an RBI single from Cal Gentry (Perry, Georgia) in the third and taking advantage of a balk and wild pitch to get two more runs in the fourth.

The Patriots got three runs in the fifth to tie, and moved ahead in the sixth on an RBI single from Leniel Gonzalez. The Bobcats had the tying run on the bases in both the eighth and ninth, but couldn't get a clutch hit to tie the game.

Shortstop Jayson Cook (Smyrna, Georgia) had two hits in three trips with a run scored. Garrett Green (Bogart, Georgia) and Austin Holloway (Social Circle, Georgia) each went 2-for-4. Senior righty Perry Keith (LaGrange, Georgia) took the loss in relief.

In game two, the Bobcats jumped in front again early, and had just enough firepower to close it out.

GC got two runs in the first, taking advantage of an FMU error. Another run came in on a Holloway single in the second. The Bobcats got two more in the fourth on a wild pitch and a run-scoring single from Tarez Miller (McDonough, Georgia). After the Patriots brought the game within one at 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, the Bobcat bullpen slammed the door.

Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw, Georgia), Chandler Amason (Grayson, Georgia), Logan Hicks (Statham, Georgia) and Chris Rolick (Marietta, Georgia) combined to throw the final 5 2/3 scoreless, not allowing a single hit, walking three and striking out seven. LoCurto (2-0) threw 1 2/3 to get the win, while Rolick picked up his third save in getting the final five outs.

Leftfielder Jay Saunders (Moultrie, Georgia) had two hits and two runs. Green and Holloway were each 2-for-5, Holloway driving in a run and Green scoring one.

The Bobcats take on the Patriots in a series-deciding matchup tomorrow, March 10 at 1 p.m.
