PEACH BELT STANDINGS

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Taking on their sixth top-10 team of the season, the No. 18 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (11-7, 4-5 PBC) lost a 4-3 decision Sunday to close the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) portion of the season.

The Bobcats lost the doubles point but garnered a win in the first slot.

GC's win once again came from the nation's No. 2 duo of Robin Möller (Hamburg, Germany) and Matt Rogel (Sautron, France). Taking on Lukas Storck and Felipe Carvalho, the Bobcats controlled the 6-4 matchup, improving to 16-2.

In second doubles, Jannik Kumbier (Neumünster, Germany) and Enzo Kohn (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) teamed for the first time this season in a tight 7-6(9-7) loss to Rasmus Jonsson and Konstantin Dustmann. Third doubles was a 6-2 defeat for another fresh pairing in Ben Grunert (Roswell, Georgia) and Noah Wallace (Grayson, Georgia) to Luca Bolla and Daniel Arrien.

Flagler took a 2-0 lead after Dustmann finished off Grunert in the sixth slot, 6-2, 6-3. The advantage pushed out one more after the next singles result, where Kohn fell to Arrien 6-3, 6-3. The Bobcats got on the board next, when Kumbier outlasted Bolla in the third slot, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Rogel made the score 3-2 with a win in the second spot over Johnsson, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. The Saints then picked up the team win in a three-set win for Carvalho over Wallace in the fourth slot. Wallace took the first set 7-6(7-4), but Carvalho rebounded for 6-2 and 6-4 sets in the win. With the team win already decided, No. 14 Möller took a ranked battle from No. 55 Storck. The Bobcat dropped the first set 6-1 and rebounded for 6-1 and 7-6(7-4) in the final two.

Möller improves to 15-2 this season. Rogel is now 11-7 in singles play, and Kumbier owns a 9-6 mark.

The loss puts Georgia College at 4-5 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, taking the No. 6-seed in the upcoming PBC Playoffs.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 12 at noon, traveling to No. 5 Wingate University (14-3). The Bulldogs play at No. 33 Lenoir-Rhyne University Wednesday.
