FLORENCE, S.C. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (4-13, 1-8 PBC) started off strong but couldn't hold on, falling at Francis Marion University (8-7, 4-5 PBC) 67-52 Wednesday night.
Guards Harper Vick (Marietta, Georgia) and Keyonna Wesley (Pearson, Georgia) led the offensive charge. Vick paced the Bobcats with 16 points on 5-of-9 from the field, her 12th double-digit scoring game this season. Wesley netted 12, including all four of her free-throw attempts. She now has eight double-digit scoring games this year.
The Bobcats took the first quarter 13-8, thanks in part to six points from Vick. FMU took little time to even things out, blitzing through the second quarter 22-8. GC never held the lead after the 8:35 mark in the second quarter.
The Bobcats out-rebounded the Patriots 32-28, but coughed up 23 turnovers compared to causing 16.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. playing host to Augusta University (7-9, 4-4 PBC). The Jaguars most recently lost at home 61-56 to No. 14 University of North Georgia tonight.
