Box Score 2 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Softball (1-5) had trouble stringing together hits against a tough-pitching North Greenville University (9-1) squad Saturday, falling 2-0 and 6-1 in a doubleheader at the Peeler Complex.
The first game was decided in the fourth inning. An infield single broke the scoreless tie, then a double to the left-center wall doubled the advantage for the Crusaders.
Jaelin Griffin held GC to just two hits and a walk, adding nine strikeouts in the shutout.
Sophomore Ariel Edenfield (Dublin) took the loss (0-2) allowing just the two runs in 3 2/3 innings of work. Reliever Ally Black (Norris City, Illinois) threw 3 1/3 innings scoreless with just a single hit.
In game two, the first career home run for freshman Lauren Sommerer (Loganville) put the Bobcats up 1-0 in the second inning. Unfortunately, it was all GC could muster, falling 6-1 after North Greenville scored in the fifth, sixth and seventh.
Junior righty Megan Bell (Forsyth) took the loss (0-2) working the fifth inning and allowing the second run of the game.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m., traveling to Anderson University.
