VALDOSTA, Ga. – Taking on their first nationally-ranked opponent of the year, the Georgia College Men's Tennis team (1-1) fell 4-0 at No. 19 Valdosta State University (1-1) Friday.
The Blazers took the doubles point with victories in the second and third slots. Junior Cole Heller (Woodstock) teamed with freshman Sebastian Nunez (Buford) for a 6-0 loss to Robert Cizek and Adam Kalivoda in the third slot. Senior Nathan Connelly (McDonough) and junior Ben Van Hout (Woodstock) lost by a 6-1 score in second doubles to Luca Mack and Edward Etty.
Second singles was the first to finish, where Lukas Zavrel (Ulvano, Czech Republic) lost to Florian Simbozel 6-1, 6-0. Etty topped Connelly in the fourth slot 6-0, 6-3. The match came to a close in first singles, with Matt Rogel (Sautron, France) dropping a 6-1, 6-0 bout to No. 7 Yohan Nguyen.
The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m., traveling to No. 23 Queens University.
