MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (2-3) picked up its second shutout win of the season Tuesday, blanking Concord University (0-1) 6-0 at the Centennial Center Courts.
The Bobcats were halfway to the doubles point before first serve, as the Mountain Lions were a player short and defaulted in the third slot.
Senior Nathan Connelly (McDonough) and junior Lukas Zavrel (Ulvano, Czech Republic) shut out Adam Katona and Alec Lusk 6-0 in the first slot to clinch the doubles point for GC. Sophomore Ben McClurg (Belfast, Northern Ireland) and freshman Sebastian Nunez (Buford) teamed for a 6-1 win in second doubles over Adam Tolliver and Derek Farley.
Sophomore Ben Grunert (Roswell) doubled the Bobcat lead with a shutout of Aaron Thompson in the fifth slot. Junior Cole Heller (Woodstock) then beat Lusk 6-1, 6-0. Nunez clinched the team win with his first career spring victory, a shutout in the fourth slot over Farley.
Next came a 6-1, 6-0 victory for Connelly in the second line against Tolliver, then McClurg completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Katona in first singles.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, March 11 at 2 p.m., playing host to No. 18 University of North Georgia.
