Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia College Soccer team (2-5) battled through double overtime, against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent Lander University (2-6), the Bobcats coming out on top at home 1-0.
The anticipated goal of the match was scored by freshman Madi Britt (Statham). A Bobcat corner was headed into the air by a Lander defender, but Britt settled the ball and fired it into the left side of the net ending the match. This was the first goal of her Bobcat career, ending the match with just under three minutes left.
With a total of 26 shots, including 11 on goal, from the Bobcat players, Britt and Sophia Bonser (Tyrone) led the game with four shots apiece.
The Bobcats' defense held strong through the match as well. Sophomore keeper Kate Richardson (Marietta) tallied a one-save shutout. This shutout was the fourth in Richardson's career.
The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m., hosting No. 4 Flagler College at Bobcat Field.
