Box Score 2 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball team (9-21, 3-11 PBC) took on their first nationally-ranked opponent of the season and came up short in the upset bid to No. 9 Young Harris College (26-7, 13-1 PBC) 10-1 and 8-2 Friday at the Peeler Complex.
The first game resulted in a 10-1 loss for the Bobcats in seven innings. There was a singular multibase hit for the Bobcats and it came off of the bat of Samantha Vinson (Jefferson), a double in the fourth. The Bobcat run came in the third, as Ashley Schell (Cumming) reached on an error and eventually came in on a first-and-third steal.
MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn) took the loss (4-9), tossing an inning with three unearned runs and a pair of strikeouts.
The second game resulted in a 8-2 Mountain Lion win. Vinson again had the lone extra-base hit doubling again as part of a 2-for-3 game. The Bobcats scored single runs in the fourth and sixth. Freshman Golden Thrower (Hannahan, South Carolina) drove in the second run with a single to center.
Thrower (2-8) threw her sixth complete game of the season in game two. She tallied two strikeouts and allowed eight earned runs on 12 hits.
