YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. –  Despite playing one person short, the Georgia College Women's Tennis team (4-4, 1-1 PBC) made short work of Young Harris College (1-10, 0-4 PBC) 6-1 Friday on the road.

The Bobcats pulled in the doubles point for a strong start.

Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) and Emma Fleming (Suwanee) teamed for a 6-4 victory in the first slot, beating Jing Dong and Juli Boerr. Jordan Bowie (Macon) and Ashton Morrison (Cumming) followed suit, shutting out Rilee Marler and Leanna Wood in the second slot. Richter and Fleming are now 6-2, while Bowie and Morrison have evened out their record, 1-1.

After a walkover in sixth singles, GC took a lead again when Richter beat Marler 6-0, 6-1 in the first slot. Next came a 6-1, 6-3 win for Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) over Dong in second singles. Richter is now 3-5, Yatribi 5-3.

Fleming clinched the team victory by beating Boerr 6-2, 6-4 in the third slot. Morrison then beat C. Marcko Ferreira on the fifth line 6-1, 6-4. Zoe Freke pushed Bowie to the limit in fourth singles, the Bobcat sophomore winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. Fleming owns a 5-3 record, while Morrison improves to 4-4 and Bowie 5-3.

The Bobcats are back in action Monday, April 5 at 2 p.m., traveling to No. 16 University of North Georgia.
