DAHLONEGA, Ga. –  Facing their second nationally-ranked team this season, the Georgia College Women's Tennis team (4-5, 1-2 PBC) lost at No. 16 University of North Georgia (9-1, 5-0 PBC) 7-0 Monday.

With the Bobcats playing one short, the Nighthawks took the doubles point with wins in the first and second slots.

Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) and Emma Fleming (Suwanee) teamed for a 6-2 loss in the first slot to Vaishali Jorge and Johanna Lippert. With the doubles point already decided, in the second slot, Jordan Bowie (Macon) and Ashton Morrison (Cumming) took the fight to Anna Markvartova and Annie Adams. The GC pair lost an outstanding battle 7-6[3].

North Georgia doubled its advantage with the sixth-slot default, then moved to 3-0 with a win in second singles. Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) lost to Markvartova on the second line 6-3, 6-2. The team victory clinching point came in the fourth slot, where Bowie lost to Claudelle Labonte Frey 6-4, 6-1.

In first singles, Richter took Jorge to the limit in a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 loss. Then came another three-setter in third singles, as Fleming lost to Adams 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Fifth singles finished the day, a 6-1, 6-3 loss for Morrison to Lippert.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m., hosting No. 13 Columbus State University.
