GREENWOOD, S.C. — The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (2-7, 0-5 PBC) lost 6-1 at No. 6 Lander University (10-1, 4-1 PBC) Friday.

The Bearcats took the doubles point, taking wins in all three slots. Matt Rogel (Sautron, France) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost 6-1 to the nation's No. 22 pairing in Adam Elliget and Hugo Regner.

The second doubles bout was the tightest of the three losses, as Lukas Zavrel (Ulvano, Czech Republic) and Sebastian Nunez (Buford, Georgia) teamed for a 6-4 matchup with Tommaso Rossin and Matthew De Groot. The third doubles match was a 6-3 loss for Cole Heller (Woodstock, Georgia) and Jack Sorel (Alpharetta, Georgia) to Lander's Guillaume Tattevin and Kim Oshiro.

Following the tough doubles loss, Rogel rebounded with a thrilling singles win. At the number-one singles position, Rogel dropped the first set 6-3, evened things out with a 6-3 set of his own, then closed it out in the third when Tattevin retired with Rogel up 1-0. Rogel moves to 4-5 in singles play this season by nabbing his first conference win.

In second singles, Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) fell to Thomas De Negri 6-0, 7-5. Third singles was a 6-1, 6-3 loss for Zavrel to Mikael Erler.

In the fourth slot, Jesus Villamizar Abia (Venezuela) lost to Jamieson Nathan 6-2, 6-1. In fifth singles, Heller fell to Regner in a pair of 6-1 sets, and Nunez dropped sixth singles action to Rossin in a pair of 6-2 sets.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 14 at 2 p.m., facing Augusta University at home.
