WINGATE, N.C. – Georgia College & State University Men's Cross Country closed out the 2022 season with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday, hosted by Wingate University.
The Bobcats were 14th of 20 teams and totaled 412 points. GCSU finished 30 points behind 13th place Erskine College and edged Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Young Harris College by five.
Sophomore Philip Bulatao (Brunswick, Georgia) was the race-leader for GCSU, taking 46th by finishing the 10K in 33:23. Bulatao's time was a personal record and the eighth-fastest in program history. He shaved three seconds off the time set by former teammate Quillian Holland (2021) just last season.
Undaunted by his first NCAA Regional race, freshman Caleb Carter (Martinez, Georgia) was second on the squad finishing 79th overall in a field of 145 runners. Carter posted a 34:41 in his first collegiate 10K. Third on the team was sophomore Caiden Curtis (Harlem, Georgia), crossing the line in 35:34 good for 97th place in his first career 10K as well.
Classmate Sam Hulsey (Dawsonville, Georgia) was 104th in 36:05. Freshman Evan Rehrauer (Hamilton, Georgia) also took on his first career 10K, finishing 108th in 36:20.
Host Wingate University took the team title, with the PBC's Augusta University taking second and Anderson University third.
This race wraps up the 2022 campaign for Bobcat Men's Cross Country. The 2022 season brought an All-PBC honor for Bulatao, with GCSU's best team finish being second at the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational.
