YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (6-1) tallied its first loss of the season Sunday, falling to Tusculum University (5-1) 67-46 on the final day of the YHC Classic, hosted by Young Harris College.
The Bobcats fought to keep it close for the first three quarters, then Tusculum slammed the door on GCSU defensively in the fourth to stretch a tight game to a more comfortable finish. The Bobcats were outscored 17-4 in the final period.
Alexa Geary (Calhoun) led GCSU with 13 points. The sophomore guard went 3-for-5 from long range and pulled in four rebounds as well. Geary has now scored in double digits for each of the seven games this season. No one else managed double-figure scoring for GCSU today, with sophomore Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) adding nine points, and junior Dashaun Jackson (Miramar, Florida) narrowly-missing a double-double at seven points and nine rebounds.
For the first time this season, the Bobcats lost the rebounding battle 46-39.
The loss puts the Pioneers ahead in the all-time series 3-2. The 6-0 start for the Bobcats this year was the best since 2013-14, GCSU beginning that season on a 10-0 run.
