TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (2-2) picked up its first shutout of the young season Saturday, winning at North Greenville University (0-3).
The Bobcats reshuffled their doubles lineup, resulting in wins in the second and third slots.
Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) and Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) teamed for a 6-2 win in the second slot over Lucas Cardoso and David Velasio. Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) worked with Aurelien Arlot (Houilles, France) for a 6-2 win in third doubles over Anthony Cassini and Grant Marzio. The Bobcats' first doubles pair of Sebastian Nunez (Buford) and Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) were shut out by Tuur Vos and Kyle Praschan.
The Bobcats swept singles action. The first result came from Jesus Villamizar Abia (Valencia, Venezuela) in fourth singles, nearly blanking Santiago Alvarez 6-0, 6-1. Nunez then took down Cassini in sixth singles, 6-0, 6-2. Arlot clinched the team victory by beating Praschan 6-0, 6-3 in the fifth slot.
Second singles was a 6-4, 6-1 victory for Cizek over Cardoso, and Malirz beat Vos 6-3, 6-4 in the first slot. Third singles closed the day, as Komada beat Velasio 6-2, 6-4.
Malirz is a team-best 3-1 this season. Both Cizek and Komada evened out their singles records at 2-2.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m., traveling to Southern Wesleyan University.
