MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (5-3) took all six singles bouts to run past Spring Hill College (5-8) 6-1 Monday on the road.
The Bobcats started in a hole, dropping first and second doubles. Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) and Jesus Villamizar Abia (Valencia, Venezuela) teamed for the first time, taking a 6-4 win in third doubles over Nicolas Bettignie and Lezan Koyuncu.
On the first line, Sebastian Nunez (Buford, Georgia) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost to Charles Wallace and Ondrej Hlavon 6-3. Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) and Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) lost 6-3 to Paul-Philipp Kern and Rafael Lima in second doubles.
Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) evened the match with a win in fourth singles to start. He beat Wallace 6-1, 6-2. Sergi then took fifth singles 6-4, 6-2 from Kern. Aurelien Arlot (Houilles, France) then beat Sebastien Torres in sixth singles, 6-4, 6-2. Komada is now 5-3 this season and Arlot improves to 3-2.
National No. 51 Cizek clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the second slot over Lima. Team win already in hand, Malirz beat Fergus O'Rourke in the first slot 6-2, 6-4 and Robinson closed the sweep with a 7-6, 5-7, 10-5 bout, topping Hlavon.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, March 21 at 2 p.m., traveling to No. 19 Augusta University.
