FLORENCE, S.C. – Taking on a former Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe for the first time in non-conference action, the Georgia College Softball team (9-17) lost both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday at Francis Marion University (14-11) 7-2 and 8-0.

In game one, the Bobcats fell victim to one big inning. FMU plated six in the third to take over the game. Down 7-0, GC plated two in the sixth but could inch no closer.

Freshman Eliza Kuhne (Sharpsburg, Georgia) and sophomore Brooke Lougher (Suwanee, Georgia) each went 2-for-3. Kuhne scored a run and stole a base, while Lougher recorded a triple. Senior Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville, Georgia) drove in both GC runs with a single in the sixth, her lone at-bat.

Sophomore starter Macy Banks (Homer, Georgia) took the loss (4-7) in 2 1/3 innings of work. Reliever Kaitlyn Anders (Makanda, Illinois) spun 3 2/3 scoreless innings with three hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

In game two, the Bobcats were held in check, managing just two hits off Janecia Hemingway. The Patriots got one run in the second, three in the third and four more in the fifth to walk-off with the run-rule win on a sacrifice fly.

Sophomore lefty Golden Thrower (Hanahan) took the loss (2-5) in game two, going 2 2/3 innings.
