GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 61 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (6-9, 1-5 PBC) wrapped up their Peach Belt Conference (PBC) portion of the schedule Friday, falling 7-0 at No. 13 Lander University (15-3, 3-2 PBC).
Action started with a doubles sweep. Sebastian Nunez (Buford, Georgia) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost in first doubles to Matthew De Groot and Bailey Horne, 6-4.
Second doubles was a 7-5 loss for Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) and Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) to Hugo Regner and Nick Beamish. The Bobcat third doubles pairing of Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) and Jesus Villamizar Abia (Valencia, Venezuela) lost to Thomas De Negri and Nicolas Chan, 6-3.
Malirz lost in first singles to Horne in a 6-3, 6-7[2], 11-9 marathon. Cizek fell short against De Negri 6-3, 7-5 in second singles. In the third slot, Komada fell to Regner 6-0, 6-1.
Fourth singles was a loss for Villamizar to Chan 7-5, 6-3. The fifth line saw Aurelien Arlot (Houilles, France) lose to Alexandre Crepy 6-2, 6-3. Sergi lost to Mouad Naoui in the sixth slot 6-4, 6-0.
The loss puts the Bobcats at 1-5 in PBC play, clinching the No. 6-seed to the upcoming PBC Tournament beginning April 29.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. eastern, traveling to No. 47 Auburn University at Montgomery.
