MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (5-8, 0-4 PBC) took on its third-straight national top-10 opponent Sunday, falling 7-0 to No. 10 Flagler College (10-4, 2-0 PBC) at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The Saints took the doubles point with wins in the first and second slot. In first doubles, Sebastian Nunez (Buford) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost to the pair of Oscar Del Granado and Philipp Lemken, 6-3. The Bobcat pairing of Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) and Jesus Villamizar Abia (Valencia, Venezuela) made the move up to the second slot and came up empty, falling to Nikita Tatyanin and Jagger Ong-Patzwald, 6-4.
Singles results started in the sixth slot, where Nunez lost to Diego Amilibia 6-1, 6-0. Next came a loss for Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) in fourth singles to national No. 66 Lemken. Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) then lost to national No. 63 Del Granado in first singles, 6-2, 6-4, clinching the team victory for the Saints.
Cizek followed with a loss to national No. 27 Tatyanin 7-5, 6-4 in second singles. Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) dropped a 6-3, 7-5 bout to Petr Cervinka. Fifth singles closed the day, with Villamizar falling to Jacopo Denitto in a tight 7-6[2], 6-4 battle.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 8 at 2 p.m., hosting Young Harris College for Senior Day.
