Bobcat Softball Splits with USCA to Claim First PBC Series Win

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (11-21, 3-9 PBC) picked up a game one 7-4 victory and a 12-0 game two loss with USC Aiken (19-16, 6-9 PBC), Sunday afternoon at the Peeler Complex. 

The Bobcats won their first PBC series this season 2-1 combined with yesterday's walk-off win. 

There was no shortage of offense in the first contest, which led to the series victory, as the Bobcats plated seven runs on 11 hits. 

Three Bobcat hitters had multi-hit showings, including DP and relief pitcher Macy Banks (Homer) who went 3-for-3 with a handful of singles. MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) went 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI. The big bat of Divina Checo (Marietta) came alive again with a home run and four RBI going 2-for-3. Starting pitcher Montana Ledbetter (Hannah City, Illinois) also picked up her first hit of the season, picking up an RBI.

Ledbetter (5-4) got the win in the circle fanning five batters in her five innings of work and only allowing one earned run on four hits. Banks got the relief effort and the save going two innings with a strikeout and allowing zero runs on one hit. 

The Bobcat offense only produced three hits in the second contest coming off the bats of Checo, Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida) and Eliza Kuhne (Sharpsburg). All three reached base via a single. 

Brayden Latimer (Milledgeville) got the start and the loss in the circle for GC. Latimer (0-2) threw 2 ⅓ innings allowing four runs on three hits. 

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday April 9 at No. 13 University of North Georgia. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. with live stats and video links available at GCBobcats.com.
