MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (12-7, 4-5 PBC) knocked down a season-high 11 threes in beating Lander University (7-11, 4-5 PBC) 58-45 Wednesday night in the Centennial Center.
Five different players hit threes, including a 7-for-10 effort from sophomore Alexa Geary (Calhoun), the guard finishing with 23 points in 25 minutes of action.
The Bobcats never trailed, getting a pair of free-throws and a turnaround jumper from sophomore Rose Bone (Monroe) to get things started. GCSU's biggest lead was the final score, a 17-point advantage. Bone finished with six points and seven boards
Senior guard Harper Vick (Marietta) was the only other double-digit scorer with 10 points, adding six rebounds and four assists.
The Bobcats dominated the glass, 51-30, with sophomore Jada Warren (Norcross) leading at 15 caroms, flanked by seven from Bone and six each from Vick and Cassidy Markle (Cumming).
The win ends a six-game series losing streak to the always-tough Bearcats, and gives GCSU a 29-28 lead in the all-time series.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m., hosting Columbus State University.
