MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College & State University volleyball team took a toss three-set loss to Augusa University in a Peach Belt Conference match Tuesday (Oct. 9) evening at the Centennial Center.
GCSU dropped to 10-11 overall and to 0-7 in the PBC, while the Jaguars improved to 15-4 and 4-1. The Bobcats are back in action Friday (Oct. 13) at 6 p.m. as they take on the University of South Carolina-Aiken in a PBC road contest.
The Bobcats stumbled in the first set with a 25-9 deficit. In the second set, GCSU found its footing better, only falling 25-18. The third and final set ended with an Augusta 25-11 win.
Veteran outside hitter
Rachel Machovec led the offense with five kills on the evening. Freshman
Cadence Spilotros had the second most kills with four. Sophomore right side,
Camryn Carlton, had the third most kills on the team with three.
Riese Johnson had the most assists on the team accounting for 12 of the 16 the Bobcats had.
Johnson and Machovec led the defense both having eight kills on the night. Spilotros added seven to her box score which was second most on the team. GCSU had four block assists coming from four different players as well as a solo block. Machovec had the lone solo block and picked up a block assist.
