Bobcats top Warriors on the road 3-0

CENTRAL, S.C.- The Georgia College & State University volleyball team took down the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University on the road 3-0 Saturday (Oct. 28) afternoon at Tysinger Gymnasium,.

The Bobcats improved to 14-12, while the Warriors fell to 3-21. GCSU will return to Peach Belt Conference play Tuesday (Oct. 31) at 6 p.m. as they travel to play Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. 

GCSU had a great offensive day as eight different players had kills. Rachel Machovec with her 15th double-double of the season led the offense with 13 kills and three service aces. Camryn Carlton had the second most kills on the match with nine. The middle blockers Mary Kate Kotzin and Brooke Roberts rounded out the offensive leaders with seven and five kills respectively. Riese Johnson had 34 assists out of the 38 the Bobcats put up. 

The squad also had an outstanding defensive performance to round out the match having 50 digs, four block assists and four solo blocks. Libero Olivia Alvarez picked up her career high in digs leading the team with 23. Machovec had the second most with 12. Kotzin led the blocking game for GCSU having three of the four solo blocks. Roberts and Carlton also had great days at the net as Roberts had a solo block and two block assists. Carlton had the other two block assists for the match.
