Bobcats fall in three at home to the Pacers

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College & State University volleyball took three a tough three-set home loss to the University of South Carolina-Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference match Tuesday (Oct. 3) evening at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats fell to 10-8 overall and to 0-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Pacers improve to 11-4 and 2-3. 

The Bobcats kept the match close as the largest final set score was a five point difference which was a 25-20 first set in favor of USCA. The second set was 25-23 and the third set was 26-24. 

Rachel Machovec led the offense with an impressive 12 kills. Camryn Carlton had the second most kills with eight while Callie Miller and Mary Kate Kotzin added five each. Setter Riese Johnson almost swept the assist category having 28 of the 30. 

For the Bobcat defense, there were two players with double digit digs in Olivia Alvarez who had 16 and Johnson with 13. Mochovec had the third most digs with six. Despite the loss the Bobcats had a great day at the net picking up 14 block assists coming from five different players. Kotzin and Carlton led the effort with four each. Middle, Brooke Roberts, had the second most with three while Miller added two.

The Bobcats will take on Flagler College Friday (Oct. 6) in a 6 p.m. PBC match in St. Augustine, Florida. Live stats and broadcast links will be available at GCSUbobcats.com.
