St. AUGUSTINE, Ga.- The Georgia College & State University volleyball team dropped a hard fought three-set match at Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference contest Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon at Flagler Gym.
GCSU fell to 10-10 overall and remained winless in six PBC matches, while the Saints improved to 5-12 and 3-3. The Bobcats continue conference play Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 6 p.m. to take on Augusta University in the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats kept it close in the first set taking a 25-23 loss. The second set was more in favor of the Saints at 25-16. In the third and final set, GCSU put up a fantastic fight, but fell 28-26.
Rosa Fisher was the lone Bobcat with double digit kills on the afternoon as she picked up 12.
Rachel Machovec and
Abby Infante had the second and third most kills with eight and six respectively. As a team, GCSU had a total of 29 assists with setter
Riese Johnson leading the effort with 28 of those.
Looking at the Bobcat defense, two players had double digit digs in Machovec and libero
Olivia Alvarez who both had 12.
Kyeli Hazzard and Johnson both added seven each for the second most on the team. At the net, GCSU two solo blocks and four block assists.
Brooke Roberts led the blocking effort accounting for both of the solo blocks and a block assist.
