GCSU uses second-half spurt to bounce Golden Rams 69-61

ALBANY, Ga. | Georgia College & State University used a 16-1 run to open the second half as the 25th-ranked Bobcats defeated Albany State University 69-61 in a non-conference men's basketball game Saturday (Dec. 9) afternoon at The Arena at West Campus.

The Bobcats improved to 7-1, while the Golden Rams fell to 4-4. Georgia College returns to action Dec. 19 when they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, for a 4 p.m. Central time contest against the University of Alabama at Montgomery.

GCSU took a 33-32 lead at the half. After Albany State took the lead on a jumper 10 seconds into the second half, the Bobcats went on a 16-1 tear over the next seven minutes as Georgia College took a 49-35 lead on an Ian Davis jumper with 13 minutes remaining. GCSU connected on four consecutive three-pointers - three from Richard Crawford III and another by Davis - to start the decisive rally. Crawford scored nine points during the outburst, while Davis accounted for the other seven.

The Bobcats took their largest lead - 16 points (55-39) - on a Luke Chism jumper with 8:50 remaining.

Davis led Georgia College with 18 points and six rebounds, while Crawford and Brendan Rigsbee added 15 points each. Crawford went 6-of-11 from the floor, while Rigsbee pulled down eight rebounds. Brady Spence added eight rebounds, seven points and three blocked shots.
