VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University Men's Tennis team (1-1) evened out its record in a loss at No. 6 Valdosta State University (1-0), 7-0 Tuesday.
The Blazers swept doubles play to get the first point. On the top line, Gabe Cizek (Prague, Czech Republic) and Luka Sauer Jimenez (Nyon, Switzerland) lost to Luca Mack and Rodrigo Carvalho 6-3.
Second doubles was a 6-2 loss for Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) to Lamar Bartley and Christian Felline. The third line saw Rodrigo Pérez Crespo (Ourense, Spain) and Marcello Rocha Moreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) lose to Christian Wedel and Pedro Cardeiro 6-3.
Mack and Cizek squared off again in first singles, with the nation's No. 2 player Mack getting the upper hand by 6-1 and 6-2 sets. In second singles, Malirz lost to Carvalho in three, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. Third singles had Sauer Jimenez lose to national No. 19 Bartley 7-5, 6-2.
In the fourth slot, Moriera Rocha lost 6-2, 6-0 to national No. 18 Wedel, while in fifth singles Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) came up short in a pair of 6-2 sets with Felline. Sixth singles featured a loss for Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) to Cordiero 6-1, 6-3.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m., traveling to Newberry College.
